Australian Grown Prawns

Over twenty years ago, a group of Australian coastal farmers heard rumors that fortunes could be made if they dug ponds on their fields, filled them with seawater and added some prawns.
Unfortunately for these farmers, it turned out to be a bit more difficult; however their determination to succeed has seen an innovative Australian industry grow from these early days.
Over the years, the number of Australian prawn farmers has increased, with people from backgrounds as diverse as banking, construction, hotels and more all sharing a passion to grow amazing seafood and giving up their day jobs to do so.

This shared passion has led to the production of world class prawns. Over the past twenty years Australian grown prawns in addition to our barbies, have graced the table of Princess Mary’s wedding, the casinos of Vegas, and the world’s most discerning seafood market, Japan.
He is not pretty; in fact he looks like something from another planet. He does not have the grandeur of the lobster or the menacing claws of the crab, but this humble crustacean has proved to be the overwhelming favourite on people’s plates.
Two of Australia’s most exceptional prawns are the black tiger prawn and crystal bay prawn. Both are farmed in clean seawater ponds around Australia’s northern coast line (From Northern NSW right around the Australian north coast to Exmouth in WA). By farming these little Aussie battlers, we are able to produce a consistent high quality prawn that matches the markets demands in a sustainable way, complimenting the limited yet sustainable catch from Australia’s first class prawn trawling industry.
